Here are two ways to decorate around fixtures like outlets and switches: use the one that feels right to you.

Method 1:

Step 1
Apply 12-inch designer with the applicator. Get as close as you can. Stop and cut. Smooth and reveal.

Step 2
Start applying again right below the outlet. Continue until you reach the baseboard. Stop and cut. Smooth and reveal.

Step 3
Apply 2-inch detailer or 6-inch accenter to fill in the missed spots.

Method 2:

Step 1
Apply 12-inch designer until you get to the light switch.

Step 2
Pull the applicator away from the wall a few inches. Pull down until the designer extends about an inch below the light switch.

Step 3
Cut a slit in the designer at the top and bottom of the switch.

Step 4
Pull the designer tight with the applicator. Reattach the designer to the wall past the switch.

Step 5
Finish applying this piece, and cut with the applicator.

Step 6
Smooth the piece to the wall; adjust your cuts as needed to make the designer lie flat on the wall.

Step 7
Cut off the flap around the light switch.

Step 8
Reveal.
