You're going to love what Bella & Birch does for your walls. The day may come, however, when you decide to give your walls a new look and redecorate over it. Maybe you'll want try another Bella & Birch color or pattern or go-back to the old methods of painting or wall-papering
To Paint over Bella & Birch:
For best results, please follow each of the following steps.
Step 1: Repair any damaged areas of the wall with spackle.
Step 2: Lightly sand areas to be spackled to ensure adequate adhesion of the spackling to Bella & Birch. Make sure spackle is dry before priming and painting.
Step 3: Prime with a high-quality latex primer. This will help you see seam overlaps, creases, and bubbles that were not visible. Check under full light.
Step 4: Sand any seam overlaps, creases, bubbles and heavily patched areas that you can see after priming. Eighty-grit sandpaper with a sanding block works well. For seam overlaps, sand in the direction of the overlaps.
Step 5: You will know you're finished sanding when the creases, bubbles, or seam overlaps are completely flat and smooth. Sand the seam overlaps until you see the original color of Bella & Birch.
Step 6: See "References: Safety" in the "How-to" section for precautions while sanding any finish.
Step 7: Damp wipe or wash walls with water after sanding. Allow to dry completely before painting.
Step 8: Re-prime sanded areas to provide a good surface for painting.
Step 9: Apply 2 coats of paint following the paint manufacturer's instructions. Recoat as needed.
Note: If you have done any special design work (i.e. stripes or color blocks) with Bella & Birch, it may require more work to sand the additional seam overlaps. Additional steps may be required. See manufactures suggestions for details.
